Over the past couple of years we’ve been constantly asked if we have any parts for sale? It’s always been something that we’d like to do, but are customers all seem to really want their parts back.

Pot Metal Buick Hood Ornament Repair
This is a 1936 Buick hood ornament that was damages during an exhaust installation on the car.
Thankfully, the car’s hood didn’t suffer any damage however the hood ornament took a beating. It had about an 1 inch of twist from the base to the top with a nice crack in the base as it transitions to the “Bird”. Needless to say it was in bad shape…
The repair went smoothly due to the metal quality of these old parts. A lot of the later pot metal parts castings are not as lucky to see metal purity control and usually end up with much contamination. This contamination can make it tough to weld especially at the any break in the part exposing the eternal metal to oxygen.
That said, if you have a part that you want permanently repaired, the best advise I can give is, don’t wait! Raw pot metal can turn to garbage quick. Get it repaired as soon as possible!
