1958 Edsel Rear View Mirrors
This ’58 Edsel rear view mirror was broken on one of the supporting frames. upon receiving the Edsel mirror, we noticed someone had tried to do a JB weld repair. Obviously this does not work. And as a matter of fact, when a permanent solution is wanted, and JB weld or any type of glue is attempted, it will only add to the problem. Simply put, Pot metal is like a “metal” sponge. It absorbs any and all kinds of moisture especially when directly applied. Wet substance such as glue will absorb deep into the metal cause a huge amount of contamination making the permanent repair much tougher to achieve without removing a lot of metal around the damage.DO USE GLUE TO REPAIR POT METAL! It’ll cost more for the permanent solution.
