1958 Ford Fairlane Visor Bracket Repair
This is a 1958 Ford Fairlane visor bracket that seemed like only, at the most a 2 hour repair? Boy, was I mistaken…
We stripped the paint and it appeared to be good uncontaminated pot metal, so we proceeded with repair. It’s really hard to tell what’s lurking under the surface of pot metal until you put heat on it. Good metal will puddle, however heavily contaminated and or rotten pot metal will literally burn and turn to ash. And this makes for a very difficult repair…
Thankfully, we are continuously improving our process and equipment to better deal with dirty, contaminated and or rotten pot metal. However some parts are so bad making them an impossible task for repair. This Ford Fairlane Visor bracket barely made it..
